Why Controls Raise Your Lighting Incentive
Silver State Incentives · Published October 14, 2026
Utility incentives reward verified energy savings. An LED retrofit reduces wattage; networked lighting controls reduce the hours those LEDs run through occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting and high-end trim. Because controls add savings on top of the LED upgrade, stacking them can increase the lighting incentive by 20–50%.
LEDs cut the watts. Controls cut the hours.
An LED retrofit can reduce lighting wattage by up to 70%. Controls then reduce the hours the remaining load runs, typically 20–40% of post-LED kWh, varying by facility.
How does stacking work?
Programs calculate incentives on the savings a project delivers. Adding controls adds savings, and in NV Energy's 2026 program AI-enhanced lighting controls are also among the limited-time offers.
Is it cheaper to add controls later?
Usually not. Installing controls with the LED retrofit avoids a second mobilization and captures the stacked incentive in one application.
How do we prove the savings?
Circuit-level metering such as Eniscope, monitored by VEM, documents the result under IPMVP.
Why this matters for your facility
Lower net cost
Incentives reduce the investment.
Verified savings
Measured under IPMVP.

VEM protects results.
Utility capital pays for part of the upgrade
Every project we model shows the incentive, the net cost and the resulting payback, SIR and IRR.
- We identify every eligible NV Energy prescriptive and custom incentive.
- We stack lighting with controls to raise the incentive 20–50%.
- We prepare and submit the application, then verify savings under IPMVP.
