HVAC Retrofits and High-Efficiency Rooftop Units
High-efficiency RTUs, SEER/EER optimization and peak demand reduction.
How much can an HVAC retrofit save in Nevada?
Replacing aging rooftop units and mechanical equipment with high-efficiency models raises SEER and EER ratings, which lowers cooling kWh and peak kW. In Southern Nevada, where cooling runs for long seasons, replacing units more than 15 years old can cut cooling energy 15–35%. NV Energy incentives can offset part of the equipment cost.
What is HVAC Retrofits?
Cooling is often the largest single load in a Nevada commercial building, and it peaks on the hottest afternoons, when demand charges hurt most. Old RTUs lose efficiency every year.
We size and specify replacement equipment, model the change in SEER (seasonal efficiency) and EER (peak efficiency), and package the project with controls for the strongest return.

How does it lower your bill?
- Higher SEER cuts seasonal cooling kWh.
- Higher EER cuts kW at peak, which lowers demand charges.
- Economizers and variable-speed fans add part-load savings.
- Lower maintenance and fewer emergency calls on new equipment.
Typical savings
Typically 15–35% of cooling energy when replacing units more than 15 years old (typical, varies by facility).
Typical, varies by facility. Confirmed through an on-site audit and metered M&V.
Ideal facilities
- Retail and grocery with large RTU counts
- Offices and schools
- Hospitality back-of-house
- Light industrial and warehouses with conditioned space
Utility capital pays for part of the upgrade
High-efficiency unitary HVAC equipment may qualify for NV Energy prescriptive or custom incentives. Pairing with HVAC controls or CO2 demand-controlled ventilation strengthens the project.
- We identify every eligible NV Energy prescriptive and custom incentive.
- We stack lighting with controls to raise the incentive 20–50%.
- We prepare and submit the application, then verify savings under IPMVP.
Measured under IPMVP, monitored 24/7/365
We follow the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP). Before work starts we set a metered or engineering baseline. After installation we measure the same loads and adjust for weather, occupancy and operating hours. The difference is your verified savings, and it is reported in kWh, kW and dollars.

Measure-by-measure design with kWh, kW, cost, incentive, SIR, IRR and payback.
Incentive Application
We prepare and submit NV Energy prescriptive and custom applications and track approval.
Installation
Licensed crews install on your schedule, nights and weekends included, with minimal disruption.
M&V / VEM
IPMVP-compliant verification and 24/7/365 Virtual Energy Management keep savings in place.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SEER and EER?
SEER measures efficiency across a whole cooling season. EER measures efficiency at a hot peak condition. In Nevada both matter: SEER drives kWh and EER drives peak demand.
Should we replace or repair old RTUs?
We compare the cost of repair against the lifetime savings and incentives of replacement, and show the SIR and payback for each path.
Can replacement be phased?
Yes. Many clients replace the worst units first and fund later phases from the savings.
Do new units qualify for rebates?
Qualifying high-efficiency units often do. We confirm eligibility against the current program year.
